Hi Steve,

My name is Nathaly and I was referred to your blog by Janine Mendes-Franco, Caribbean Editor of Global Voices. I work with a group of young people all over the world who have just launched an international, grassroots climate campaign called 350.org. That number, 350, is the target Dr. James Hansen of NASA and others have laid out for the maximum concentration of carbon in the atmosphere, 350 ppm, in order to stop the disaster that is climate change.

We're hoping that the target can become an easy-to-remember, unifying number that the public can use to judge the outcomes of future international climate negotiations. Over the coming months, we plan to work with groups around the world to build a movement capable of launching a major international mobilization next year. 350.org will profile the work of individuals and organizations in every country that are taking action to save the environment. And we'll try and build a sense of collective momentum through creative grassroots events, projects, and campaigns centered around spreading the number 350.

I'm writing to you today to ask your help. In your position as a local blogger, you have both the know-how and the power to help us spread this message and I hope you will be willing to help us. I already have a couple of contacts in Dominica with who we are working, but am hoping to extend to a larger network of 350 supporters throughout the Caribbean and I would love to hear your thoughts on how to best spread this message and who would be good potential partners to reach out to.

I really appreciate your time and hope we will be able to communicate a bit more, by email (nathaly@350.org), Skype (nathaly350) or over the phone. I look forward to hearing from you!

Cheers,

Nathaly
