I am so disappointed to hear about this refinery going up. One of the hallmarks of a thorough EIA process is one of broad-based participation to ensure that everyone is allowed to register their opinions. This process seems to have entirely ignored that...it's not some bureaucratic task to check off a list, it's about the publics' right to know and participate in their democracy.

I am looking forward to return to the island soon and its so upsetting to hear of such an obvious step back in what I thought were the island's clear and ecologically friendly development goals...the 'Organic Island' concept will prove illusory when juxtaposed with such a 'non-organic' project.
